Step-by-step 2FA Configuration

Follow the steps below to enable an additional layer of security on your Data Octopus account:

Step 1: Go to Account Settings

  1. In the top right corner of the application, click on your account icon.

  2. From the dropdown menu, select "Your account" to go to the settings.

Step 2: Enable Authenticator App

  1. In the "Your data" section, find the "Authenticator App" option.

  2. Click the switch next to this option to begin the 2FA activation process.

Step 3: Password Verification

  1. A pop-up window will appear asking you to re-enter your account password.

  2. Enter your password and click Submit to authorize the start of the 2FA setup.

Step 4: Configure the authenticator app

  1. You will see the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" screen.

  2. Install an authenticator app (e.g., Google Authenticator or Authy) on your phone. These are recommended and commonly used applications.

  3. In the authenticator app, select the option to add a new account. Do this by scanning the displayed QR code or manually entering the generated key.

Step 5: Code Confirmation

  1. After adding the Data Octopus account to your authenticator app, the app will start generating six-digit one-time codes.

  2. Enter the currently displayed 6-digit key from the app into the corresponding fields in the Data Octopus application (in step 2).

  3. Two-factor authentication (2FA) has been set up.

Logging in with 2FA enabled

The next time you log in and periodically (the application requires the key every two weeks for security purposes), the login process will be as follows:

  1. You enter your email and password.

  2. The system will then ask you to provide a "Verification Code".

  3. Open the authenticator app on your phone, read the current 6-digit code for Data Octopus, and enter it in this field.

After entering the correct code, you will gain access to the application.
